Indo–German Co-operation for India’s People-centred Transition

Preview policy brief
Conclusions from RE-INVEST 2024 and the 7th Intergovernmental Consultations

In this policy brief, we explore emerging opportunities for a people-centred transition in India, with a clear focus on enhancing Indo–German co-operation on climate action, renewable energy, and sustainable development.

All eyes were on India this autumn. The German Foreign Office issued its 'Focus on India' strategy, and the Ministry of Labour chimed in with its 'Skilled Labour Strategy: India'. This autumn also saw the launch of the 'India–Germany Platform for Investments in Renewable Energy Worldwide', a joint project of the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Two more recent milestones finally brought bilateral relations to the next level: the RE-INVEST conference in September 2024 and the Intergovernmental Consultations of October 2024. High time and ample opportunity to pave the way for the much needed people-centred transition in India.
