Global Climate Risk Index

The annually published Global Climate Risk Index analyses to what extent countries have been affected by the impacts of weather-related loss events (storms, floods, heat waves etc.).

A new edition of the Climate Risk Index (CRI) will be released in early 2025, featuring an updated methodology for improved comparability between country rankings and a more sustainable dataset on climate impacts for future publications.

The new edition of the CRI also strives to enhance accessibility and reachability. Summaries of the key findings will be made available in French, Spanish, Arabic and German. Please provide your email address below, and you will be the first to know about the publication.

Unfortunately, we were unable to compile a Climate Risk Index in 2022 and 2023 due to a temporary lack of data at our data supplier. We are very sorry about this.

As in previous years, the Global Climate Risk Index 2011 analyses to what extent countries have been affected by the impacts of weather‐related loss events (storms, floods, heat waves etc.). The most recent available data from 2009 as well as for the period 1990‐2009 were taken into account.

Der Globale Klima-Risiko-Index 2007 untersucht, wie stark Länder und Ländergruppen durch die Auswirkungen wetterbedingter Schadensereignisse (Stürme, Überschwemmungen, Dürren etc.) betroffen sind. Die Auswertungen basieren auf den weltweit anerkannten Datenerhebungen und -analysen des Bereichs GeorisikoForschung (NatCatSERVICE®) der Münchener Rück.
