Campaign: Tax against poverty
As the first signatories, we have been calling on the German government to introduce a financial transaction tax since 2009, together with almost 98 other organisations. The revenues are to be used to finance measures to combat poverty and protect the environment.
To date, the financial sector has been largely exempt from taxation and even after the past global financial crises, many financial market players have refused to make a contribution to combating the consequences. The prospect of enforcing this through a financial transaction tax is better than ever before in the European Union and the eurozone.
