Adding Local Value to African Countries' Critical Raw Materials Trade

preview
A Factsheet for Civil Society

The creation of value through trade and processing of critical raw materials is a crucial step towards sustainable economic development in African countries. Our fact sheet, co-authored by the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance, provides an overview of some of the most relevant initiatives in recent years. We highlight obstacles to the Africa Mining Vision and point to solutions through regional co-operation. The Lobito Corridor is assessed as a case study of African co-operation on building supply chains.

The fact sheet is aimed at African civil society groups and platforms that are committed to value creation and sustainable development. These include national and regional non-governmental organisations, but also small businesses, women’s groups, youth groups, and other stakeholders of economic transformation.
