Germanwatch International Conference on 2nd June 2014

2° or 4° Climate Change? Consequences for Development

The world stands at a crossroad. Recent sciences, including the latest IPCC assessment report, shows that uncurbed climate change is likely to have disruptive impacts on food production, population pressure and development potentials of future generations. The conference will highlight these consequences for development (the problem), consider existing and emerging examples of action on the ground that promotes development, while adapting to climate change and reducing emissions (the practice) and discuss the policy frameworks needed to scale up these practices and set the world on a pathway to low-carbon climate-resilient development (the policy). At the outset of the annual climate meeting in Bonn, the event provides experts from academia, civil society and decision makers with a space for discussion, exchange and strategizing. A particular focus will be put on how the development and environment community can most effectively use the major political opportunities in 2014 and 2015.

The conference will feature presentations from renowned international experts, room for group discussions and a high-level roundtable on international climate strategy until 2015.

Location: The event will take place at LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn, Colmantstr. 14-16, 53115 Bonn, Germany

Time: 2nd June 2014, 09:30-17:30
