Federal Volunteer Service

In the context of the Federal Volunteer Service Germanwatch e.V. offers a volunteer position in the ecological non-profit working field. The Federal Volunteer Service aims to provide the opportunity to get to know the daily work routine in Germany, gathering useful information on the professional life as well as orientating oneself within a particular working field.
The program is open to all refugees who have an employment permit and have finished the compulsory education. Volunteers have to be at least 18 years old.

We are an independent development and environmental organisation which lobbies for sustainable global development since 1991. For us, sustainable development means socially equitable, ecologically sound and economically stable development.
We endeavour to approach our aims by advocating fair trade relations, responsible financial markets, compliance with human rights, and the prevention of dangerous climate change. Our topics are

  • World Trade and Food Security
  • Climate Protection/Mitigation and Adaptation
  • Corporate Accountability
  • Education for Sustainable Development

In Germany, Europe and on the global level, we observe actors responsible for decisions which impact the achievement of our goals. Using science-based analyses, we inform the public and consumers, educate and lobby everyone who can support our goals through their own actions. To this end, we are closely connected with organisations and individuals from the Global South as well as with development and environmental organisations worldwide.

Our team consists of around 40 employees working in Bonn and Berlin. The volunteer will be working in our Bonn office with occasional business trips / external appointments as e.g. conferences or representing Germanwatch during fairs/events.
